Alum is a crystalline aluminium salt used after shaving primarily for its astringent action. Applied to the skin, it helps stop minor bleeding from shaving nicks and may inhibit bacterial growth.

Taylor of Old Bond Street Alum Block is a solid mineral finish for traditional wet shaving. It is fragrance-free and works across the shaved area or locally on a very small nick.

Potassium alum gives the block its astringent action. It is intended to soothe irritation and seal small shaving cuts. Unlike a balm, it does not add a creamy layer or a separate scent. Thorough drying after use keeps the block ready for the next shave.

Choose this if: you want a fragrance-free mineral step with a traditional astringent feel.

Not suitable if: you are looking for moisturising balm care or need treatment for a deeper or persistent cut.

How to use: Wet the block, glide it lightly over freshly shaved skin or a small nick, then rinse the block and let it air-dry completely before storage.
